Oscar Wilde

OSCAR WILDE (1854-1900) was the pre-eminent playwright, poet and essayist of his times, defining the ‘post-aesthetic’ wit of the 1890s with such works as Lady Windermere’s Fan and The Importance of Being Earnest. His trials for homosexuality were among the most scandalous of the nineteenth century.
